so, starting to put the engine bay back together on the 230 sl and I have 2 questions.
1. how many clamps should the main wiring harness have in the engine bay and where should they go. I my car only had 4 and they were all on the firewall. from the photos I found in the internet it appeaars there should be more like 9.
3. on the firewall (one each side of heater core tube passenger side and one to the drivers side of the hood latch.
1 under the coolant reservoir
1. to center from the hole for the speedo cable
1 under the relays
1 near the voltage relay on the passenger side
2 forward of the subframe mount on the chassis
2. there is a braided cord connected to the hood release cable. It is about 4 inches long and appears to bolt to the firewall to the outside of the heater core tube on the drivers side. some photos appear to have this connected with the main wiring harness clamp to the center of the firewall hole for the speedo cable?
I can post photos if needed.
thanks in advance for the help

Well, I think I figured out where the braided cord screws in.
there is a hole away from center where the tach cable comes thru.
I have e-mailed gernold at sl tech on the wiring harness clamps

Hey Matt. Mine has at least nine. Pretty much where your list has them.

Hmmm!
two questions you say....let me ask you this. Does having a box of six eggs allow you into the five items or less queue at the supermarket?
