I have been writing articles telling the truth about some of these 113 parts. I have had 2 sets of oem sunvisors over the years for my 250sl---bought from Bud's. They were original replacements and they have broke about every 6-8 years for no other reason, but being cheaply produced and engineered. I cut one open to find wire that's only about twice the thickness of a coathanger. The vinyl also loses it's shape and integrity. It becomes puffy and not tight! Sometimes I wish that the members would call the shots honestly. I paid over 220.00 each for these pieces of crap, and the last one that broke won't be replaced until an aftermarket of good quailty comes out. They are twice the cost now from what I hear.

First, by "oem sunvisors", do you mean they came directy from MB with MB packaging, logo, etc.? I'm not sure what Bud's Benz is selling, so please tell us more about what you bought, who made it, how it was made, etc.
Have you seen this? Maybe it will be better?

I too was unhappy with the sunvisors that came with the W113 cars, so I started looking around for a substitute. I found out that the sunvisors of the 190 E and 300 E's of the early 90's are very close in size and shape to the 113 cars. They are not a direct replacement fit but I was able to adapt a pair to my car. No one has ever noticed or cared about the difference. These sunvisors are much sturdier than the originals, have lighted mirrors and cost considerably less than the originals or reproductions. Mine happened to be free. Of course the cost does not include the time and effort that I expended to make the adaptor to fit the 190 E sunvisors to the 113 brackets. I used a piece of aluminum rod that I turned on a lathe to the outside dimensions of the 190 E shaft (rod). I then drilled out the center to the diameter of the 113 shaft. I also had to mill out a slot in the aluminum adaptor for the tang on the 113 shaft to fit into.
Just one other alternative to the sunvisor problem.

My sunvisors were missing so I found two from a sedan that matched well last summer .Paid 20 USD only. Same atachments but a little bit longer and with a passenger mirror. Not for 100% original searchers,but at least from the same era.? See attached picture

They were originals from Bud's / Oem means factory to me. I thought I explained myself. From the factory -these sunvisors are of poor quality, and not worth 50.00 much less 400.00

I also found some beauties for $30 on EBAY. I am very happy with them. I wouldn't have paid $400, thats nuts!
Try the dude on here thats selling new ones. They are about $200 I think. I did see some other visors for sale on Ebay. Try the, too.

For those that seem to be confused about some acronyms...
OEM=Original Equipment Manufacturer. Yes, that means the guys that originally made the part when the car was new. Does not necessarily have to mean in Mercedes packaging; an OEM Bosch starter you get at a foreign auto parts store will be the same unit you get at the dealer in different packaging. So will most Bosch parts; ATE brake parts, etc.
OEM can be confusing; I'd call all Beru and Bosch ballast resistors OEM for example, and NAPA not; but which one actually showed up on the car??
NOS=New Old Stock. Old parts that have been sitting on the shelf somewhere. One of Joe Alexander's friends in Columbus has a warehouse full of NOS Mercedes parts he buys from dealers clearing out inventory.
NIB=New In box.
And, having bought new sunvisors some years ago when they were only expensive and not ridiculously so, I can say with certainty they are not of the highest quality.

I bought a pair of visors from Kay after doing some of my own repair work which resulted in old visors that had been cut open, new hardware inserted then closed up leaving an uneven seam. I wanted new visors and Kay came through! They're real nice, if not a little bright. The originals were tan and the new ones are much whiter. They match the exterior, though, and are very clean. The passenger visor came with an original sized vanity mirror. The best thing is they stay up, rather than flopping down all the time. Thanks Kay.

I also advise not to have your old sunvisors reconditioned . It's the inside guts that are cheaply made. Coat hanger type crap.That's what breaks. Recovering your old ones will do nothing. Be aware of this fact!
