The 230-SL automatic of Rodd Masteller and the 250-SL standard of Bill Rader were locked in a fierce competition during an "autocross" last Sunday. The local Mercedes-Benz Club along with the Alfa Romeo Club sponsored the event. The autocross was the first club competition for both Bill and Rodd. The classic over thirty year old pagodas performed flawlessly and amazed the spectators as they went through the .53 mile coarse. Both drivers left with huge grins and a new appreciation and understanding of their W113s. Now retired W113 competitor and lister, Bob Fellows, wife Linda and 280-SL, watched the heated contest from the sidelines.
Both participants vow to take up the grudge match again soon!

Joe,
Hi. Yes, it was a incredibly fun and I can't wait to do it again! The best part was that Bill & I did not have any mechanical failures. :D
Thanks for the ride in the SLK32. I was left speechless, my big grin had to speak for me.
Did you get our complete list of lap times? I know a few of mine, and my last was my fastest, but I would like to see how I did through the day and against all the competitors. I'll post a couple more pics tonight.
Thanks,
Rodd

Hi everybody,
When I arrived at the autocross I met Rodd in his wife's SUV.He asked me if I was going to race my 250.I told him I was thinking about it.He said if I was he would too.So he went home and brought back his 230.It was a blast to say the least!I have never had so much fun in an automobile!
Even with my tired coil springs and out of tune suspension I still managed to improve on every lap.I was really suprised at how well our cars did on such a tight and twisty corse.I see a suspension rebuild in my near future.
I also was lucky enough to take one of the most THRILLING rides of my life with Joe in his SLK32.It was more fun than any roller coaster I have ever rode on!Definitely will remember that ride the rest of my life. Thanks again Joe!

My camera's batteries died early in the event. There were lots of great MBs, Alpha Romeos, and other cars there. Highly recommended event for the lead-foots!
