Title: 113 in Macy's Spring Catalog
Post by: KevinC on December 03, 2006, 10:39:12
Macy's "Preview Spring" catalog...I wonder if this one belongs to anyone here? White Exterior/Red Interior 280 SL with passenger door mirror and luggage rack! Appears to have a wooden steering wheel, too.

Also, it looks to have pinstripes and unpainted hubcaps.

That is really cool.  I don't think these cars get enough publicity as to just how classy they really are.

Is the luggage rack on the trunk lid really necessary?  You could pack most of your closet in the trunk of a 113...

Whose closet?  I can barely get my tools and cleaning supplies in the trunk when I go to a show!  My clothes are generally relegated to the space behind the seat!  For vintage motor touring I'd say the luggage rack or fitted suitcases are a must! :)

Macy's is definitely in need of new 'models'.  'Chickee's' accessories did not match.  White suit with a white car-tacky!  etc, etc, etc.   They need Joe A and Benz Dr's wife   or  something.  Applications??   A little educational program for Macy's-----

If Shelley Caron and Mary Alexander read this post, stick your head out the window anywhere in the world and you might hear them laughing at your suggestion that they be new Macy's models... ;)

Is there a car in the first photo?  I can't focus beyond the model!

can anyone tell me about the rear lenses on the Macy's car. Do they belong to 230's or what models and years were they fitted etc.? I have them on my 280sl you see and others I have seen dont have these. There are 3 others within 4 streets of mine, so plenty of comparison.

Egads!  Is that an orange colored interior?  Or is it the setting sun glowing orange on the light brown interior?
Paulr, the 280SL's had red taillights up to early 1970.
And, what are you all griping about?  Woman in the pic?  What woman??  All I see is this blazingly white 280SL with a chrome rack on the trunk and an orange interior??  ;-)))

The orange interior was correctly installed to match the model's incorrect orange spray tan...

I noticed the rack, too.

Not to fear...it's a darker red/burgandy interior. Probably just the setting sun that makes it appear to be orange!
