Title: Lifting a 113 for inspection - how not to??

Hi All,

I was wandering about the internet and came accross this ebay item. The item itself is of little interest; however, I read with interest the 'advice article' posted in the item (please scan towards the bottom of the item ad to find it) which states, I believe, that the car should only be lifted on a ramp-type vehicle lift given the stress loading on the front suspension. Is this entirely correct?

What he is trying to say is if your frount subframe mounts are old you run the risk of tearing them by putting the car on a pad style lift. Basically if you are driving a 40 year old car it might be a good idea to replace the mounts so you will not face this problem.

When I first bought my car I put it up with the engine running trying to find a transmission leak and the mounts were torn. Needless to say the racket of the fan hitting the shroud put a stop to that.
