Title: Differential Oil

What is the modern day equivalent and brand name for Hypoid Transmission Oil SAE 90? Is GL-5 rated gear oil a good subsitute? Is anyone using synthetic oil in the differential?  What do you all recommend?

Jeff, I think 85W-90 Hypoid gear oil is the modern equivalent, and that's what I use.  I don't use synthetic, but see no reason not to if you prefer it.  Whatever you use, make sure it says it's for hypoid gears.  I want to say the hypoid gear oils are usually GL-5, and I look for that rating as well.
