There is an auto trans same as the w113 (GA280SE) attached to a 220 engine for sale on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=020&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=300051417813&rd=1&rd=1
The seller lives 10 minutes away.
Now remember I am in Australia.
The seller shows pics and states that the trans has been rebuilt.
The engine has carburettors.
I remember reading that the auto trans on an MFI engine has a different number of mounting bolts to the auto trans on a Carb engine.
Let me say, my current auto transmission works great but this is a rebuilt box and I thought it might be prudent to buy this one as a spare... price dependant of course.
My question.... can the bell housing? that is used to mount the transmission to the engine be swapped over from my exisitng auto trans (GA230 SL *E) to allow the Carb engine auto trans (GA280SE) to fit my MFI engine?
Is this worth bothering with or should I just have my transmission rebuilt when necessary.

Hello Bob,
This should be a correct unit. The unit should bolt right up. You may need to switch torque converters if the bolt arrangement for the flywheel is different.

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the reply, I will make a note about the torque converter.
I will now approach the seller about buying just the transmission.
cheers
