Well, after almost 2 years and a very frustrating day my 66 230 sl finally started!!!!
I have spent about 4K on parts and numerous weekends under the car. Now to do some fine tuning and get on the road!!!

Matt,
I can't believe that in this incredibly supportive forum, you have not had a number of high fives. The guys must all be working on their cars... have a wonderful drive--you have earned it!

Matt,
Congratulations!!! Enjoy the ride. I've had my '65 230SL for two years and am just about to sent it to paint. Been sneaking her out for some exercise after rear end rebuild, rocker panels, floors... can't wait for paint and interiorto be complete.

Jim, Trice,
thanks guys, took the spouse for a spin and we had a great time.
thre is a miss somewhere, but the fine tuning hopefully will cure the miss.
The last time the spouse was in the car we were on Oahu hawaii, cruising the island, she commented the only thing missing while we were cruising is the view of the island. Austin texas is nice but no hawaii.
yeah, good to get the car on the road.

Yes, it's great to get a little gratification after so much work. Even petter to share the moment with your other half. Here's to many enjoyable hours of wind in your hair, sun in your eyes and bugs in your teeth!

Jim,
On salty humid Kauai, how do you keep your car from rust and wood/rubber deterioration? We bought a garage dehumidifier for Sarasota, and it helped immensely (added aboutr $20/mo. to the electric bill). It's set at 60% over the hot humid summer and drains beneath the garage door. Works wonders; no more mildew on hidden leather parts in the E Type and Carling.

Fantastic news, Matt!
Now, finally we can have that long-awaited Austin Pagoda meeting... after I put that fuel system back together...
Good to know there's one more Pagoda on the road in Austin.
