Hi! I'm Dan. A New member.
My question: I see that the "spring flexible insulators" on my '70 280 SL are worn out, What to do?
Replace?
How easy or difficult to replace them?
How much are they and where can I order them, parts number?
And while I'm in that area, what else do I need to replace, I mean other rubber bushing or insulator?
Thank you.

Welcome Dan!
Can you be a little more descriptive. Are you referring to the suspension? Front, rear or both?

Hi Jeff,
I received your e-mail on my address, sorry, I'm new to this, but I'm learning.
Regarding the rubber support on the rear coil spring of my sl, are worn out (lower). Sometimes I would hear a noise(metallic) when I make turns, not all the time. You said, more important are the top rubber cushion.
What are progressive springs?
Hope you don't mind me asking your help or question, now that I know that there's someone to ask.
Yes I have Haynes manual and another EURO book.
Thanks. Dan

Dan,
Are you sure the noise is from the lower spring pad? If not, I'd give some thought to other sources of the noise. Try to get to a point where you can cause the noise and then this group can help figure out the cause.

It could be the differential mount, couldn't it? A bit easier to replace than springs -- and probably something you'd want to check anyway.

OK Jeff, thanks.
I'll monitor the sound and will get back to you.
