Can anyone recommend a full service interior restorer in the New York, NY area? Also, Im thinking about changing the color of my existing red interior. Currently my '67 230 is white (050) with black (040) wheels and top. Any thoughts as to a new color for the inside???

David,
Try Kent Bain at Automotive Restorations Inc in Stratford, CT (at the top of the Merritt pkwy). Excellent work & they know old SLs. I believe their website is under their name as the URL.

green in white is a great combo
I also like cognac with white

Just spoke with Kent Bain at Automotive Restorations... Sounds like they really know what they're doing up there. Will be seeing them in early December and will let you know the result... Thanks for the feedback, Douglas...
I, too, like cognac with those colors, but I'm thinking more and more that I should redo the interior but keep the color original red... still undecided...

Check out the Jamuary 2007 issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotic for a good article on Kent Bain and his Automotive Restoration shop in CT.
The guy sure appears to be busy.

David, IMHO there is no more attractive leather available for these cars, due in large part to the texture imprinted on (only) this leather choice. My car also originally delivered with the same 040/050 colors but with cognac. I opted to repaint the car in 040 black because it's easy to keep clean ; If you do decide on cognac, make sure you purchase all leather pieces and hides at the same time and from the same source as matching dye-lot/texture is more of an issue with this color.
Pics help sway your decision.

I had my interior redone through Gernold Nisius - SL Tech in Arundel, Maine last Spring and am very happy with the results. Cognac leather - redid everything and also the top.

I second that. You will have to search long and hard to find anyone who knows more about a W113 than Gernold at SL Tech. If he was closer, I would have used him.

This reminds me of the time my wife said "so if we move, where should we go?" Then she looked at me funny when I said "well, how about one of these places:
Arundel, Maine?
OR Port Lambton, Ontario?
OR Portland, Ore.?
OR Blacklick, Ohio!
OR how about Singelfinden, Germany?" ;)
