The transmission illustration is of a standard 4 speed.

I once got a call from someone who was parting out a 250S sedan, and he claimed it had a 5 speed trans. I told him to bring the trans. and linkage over to my shop and I would give him $200 for it. The next morning he shows up with a trans. on the back of his tow truck. It was just a stock 4 speed but had a 5 speed shift knob on the linkage. At the time I had a half a dozen old 4 speeds laying around and didn't need another. I had no idea that he had driven in from Belton, MO to Kansas City, so he was kinda angry about the situation.

Al

Maybe he thought that because there were 5 gears, 4 forward and one reverse, it was a 5-speed.

Thanks

It went for nearly US$5400, so if you figure transport to US, a mechanical inspection and refurbishment of easily obtainable worn parts at another $1k, the going rate for a ZF 5-speed looks to be between $6k - $ 6.5k in US.

Cheaper to by the whole car in most cases. Remove the five speed parts and replace them with 4 speed stuff. Sell the five speed car and you might break even on the deal.
Since you need ALL of the parts that go with the 5 speed car for this conversion, this is often the best route. It all depends on the condition and price of the 5 speed car.
