Title: can I use 78 300d steel rims on a 66 230sl?

The rims on my 66 230 sl need to be stripped and painted.  I am not ready to get this done yet.

I replaced my original steel rims from my 78 300d with bundt style chromies but I kept my old steel rims.

would the old steel rims from my 78 300d work on the sl?

Yes they will bolt up, but there are no bumps to hold the center caps.

Are the colors close enough to use the 300d caps on the Pagoda?

Al,
actually i have newer one piece hubcaps on the sl, they should fit the 300d rimd.

my father got rid of the original cap and chrome ring a long time ago.
