Hi All,
Has anyone entertained the idea of trying to re-create the original window sticker (sales sticker) for our cars?
I believe that all we would need is for one of us to have a very nice looking, clean, original sticker that we could scan. Then this could be adjusted with the appropriate software with our unique vin numbers and other options that were ordered with our cars.
Any thoughts on this? Any legal issues? We could indicate in the lower corner a disclaimer of it being a re-print....
:?: Other comments?
Regards,
Bob

Hi Bob,
while it is nice to have old Pagoda documents and memorabilia I am not so sure whether we are not inviting some copycats to do the same to fool potential buyers.
Right now someone is selling a “blank” Pagoda data card on eBay (item nr. 150040017087 / “Needs to be filled in. Very rare item”) and I wonder when this card will show up with the next unmolested and original Pagoda on eBay!?

I have been thinking about a re-creating a window sticker all summer. We could limit it to members only or something else.

I've always thought about getting an MB "birth certificate" although the $100+ always seems to be better spent on something else for the car.

Bob, I've got the original sticker on my car, but it will take me a couple weeks to get it posted....the sticker is at one house and the scanner is at another one.
I also have every brochure on A/C and other features. My original owner was miticulous in keeping every detail well preserved...

Hello Chris and others!
Thank you for the replies! I wish that the Classic Center would offer recreations of our window stickers, like they do on the manuals. My intention is not to represnt the re-creation as "original". Besides, dont think I could, most original stickers are worn and on old paper, etc.
The re-created window sticker would just be a nice addition when we show our cars. Rather than just having a piece of paper with the specs and details on our cars, the window sticker, with details, prices, etc. would give our car that much more appeal.
Alfred, I agree with what you said, but again the intent is not to represent the re-creation as "original". On a similar note... is this idea really any different than recreating all of the other stickers for our cars? Engine compartment stickers, softop sticker, etc...?
Other comments, concerns, etc are welcome!
Thanks again!

It would be great to have a window sticker but weren't the window stickers dealer specific? Have you checked with your car's original dealer? They might have some old stickers from that time, even if it's for other cars, that you can edit, scan and type in the options and the known prices back then. That would make it one step closer to what your original window sticker would have been.
If I know the original dealer for my car that's how I would do it.
Is there any way to find out the origin of the car other than contacting the previous owners?
Where can one get the other stickers for our cars? I thought only the high end restorer would have them.

It would be great to have the original sticker. Unfortunately for me, my 280sl was a Euro fromm Italy which was brough to the US i believe in the 80's and then to Manila in 2005. I wonder if there were original window sales sticker in Italy in the late 60's

Hello All.
When I bought my second Pagoda last year, I found a treasure trove in the trunk/boot!
There was the Tan Mercedes pouch with all the documentation that came with the car including the ones from Becker and Bosch. I also found the Window Sticker (The car price was 7601$) and the big fat Service Manual.
Attached are a couple of pics
Best regards
