Bought a 3,27 axle with the intention of installing it on my 280SL. Delivery in October. I'm told it may be a limited slip differential. Does anyone know where I can find any maintenance/repair documents on the axle.
Thank you,
Jeff C.

Other than the tag on a LSD indicating the need for a particular oil is there any other exterior indication on an axle to indicate that it is or is not a LSD version? I know about the gear ratio stamping on the differential. Are there any part markings on a 280SE 4.5 axle? If so where can I find them?
Many thanks,
Jeff C.

Hello Jeff - - - I have no knowledge about the LSD option, However, I can assure you you are really going to be amazed by the improved cruise performance with the higher gear rear end. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that a previous owner had installed a 3.27 in my car. The photo shows how inaccurate your speedo will be if you do not modify it ( I have not done mine yet ). Your road speed will be 1.15 times your indicated speed.

Larry,
I thought California freeways were terribly congested! I'll never believe the hype from now on.
