Doing some research with a view to buying (eventually!!) I found the following items useful;
Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine May 2005 Back Issue (Pagoda Special)
http://www.mercedesenthusiast.co.uk/
and
Mercedes SL by LJK Setright (out of print)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mercedes-Benz-SLC-Osprey-Expert-Histories/dp/0850456983/sr=1-2/qid=1157299561/ref=sr_1_2/202-0275952-6386227?ie=UTF8&s=books
Does anyone else have any recommendations?
Cheers!

As a beginner, I really found "Original Mercedes SL" by Laurence Meredith to be great. I've heard that some parts are not entirely accurate, but it is pretty detailed.
