Title: History of Italian delivered 230SL
Post by: rwmastel on August 01, 2003, 08:28:06
Hello list!  In the topic at http://index.php?topic=573, there was a post by David Pease about going to Italy.  It made me think of my old quest to find information about my Italian-delivered 230SL.

My car was originally delivered in Bergamo, Italy to the dealership called NAVA.  I have ownership history from the Motor Vehicle Department (or what ever they call it there) thanks to a member of the old W113 Yahoo! Group.  The car stayed in the general area of Sarnico, Bergamo, and Milano through 3 owners and 10 years before being brought to the USA.  I also have the last registered license plate number.  I have no maintenance or repair history on it from the time it was in Italy.  Do you guys have any idea how I could track that down?  I am interested in finding out how many kilometers the car has actually travelled and what major repairs were done in it's life.

Thanks!

You mentioned way back when that you wrote to Mr. Carlo (?) Riva and actually got a reply. He may be your best bet to start this quest. We do have several Italian members, maybe one of them will take up the challenge, although it could take a lot of time to get anywhere. You're talking 40 years ago. Maybe hire an Italian private investigator ;-)
