Please add detailed close up photos of the engine bay so we know what a 230SL should look like. Also, what is the color code that you used? It may be in one of your earlier posts but I couldn't find it.

Post by: Bob G ✝︎ on October 12, 2006, 14:19:36: The 230SL in question is one of the most beautiful marques of the production of the linage of Mercedes Benz SL's from 1963 to 1971. This beautifull 1965 European model is Owned by Mr.Tom LeClair. I see someone beat me to the pictures I shot four rolls engine compartment, interior and out side body . This 230SL is 040 black with Cognac leather.
I had the honor to judge this vehicle at the ATSC concours in Orange county see pictures with Tom Hanson, and Scott Melnick.
Personally a lot of hard work and alot of orginal OEM parts went into this restoration it was a first class job and it would of been my pick for first in class.My best wishes go out to MR. LeClair and his family for providing us with the chance to view his pride and joy, with the exception of his dauthers and his brother Steve who I had the pleasure to meet along with Tom LeClair.
When I get my film developed I will post pictures of this amazing 230SL. Special thanks go out to our own Tom Colitt for his mechnical work in helping to restore this 230SL.

Thanks for your praise, but the actual owner of this very nice 1965 230SL is Steve's brother Tom LeClerc who also had done much of the body restoration himself before he unfortunately fell ill. By the way, this is also the reason the car was converted from a manual transmission to an automatic. Tom LeClerc is a regular on this site, but he is too modest to take the credit which he deserves completely. This project is his baby and I am glad to have only helped out and added mostly finishing touches to the excellent restoration. If all goes well, Tom hopes to show it again and we will have more time to correct some of the last remaining details that you, Tom Hanson and Scott Melnik had caught (and I, but I'm not telling what ;) )
