In the September 2006 issue, the 280SL is one of 15 vintage roadsters/best collector sports car in a variety of budgets. The Pagodas were "the most civilized roadster of its day". "The second-generation SLs are among the most understated beautiful car Mercedes-Benz has ever produced (and we already knew that :D ). Our faviorite is the 280..." The market value for "investment grades" was listed at $35,000 to $50,000.
The other cars that were also pictured and also had a small write up were: Corvette C1, Porsche 550 Spyder, Shelby Cobra 427, Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, Jagauar E-type, Austin-Healy 3000, Lotus Elan, MGA, Lamborghini Miura, Porsche Speedster, Morgan Plus 4, BMW 2800/3.0 CS, Alfa Romeo Duetto, and the Saab Sonett II. The Corvette is on the cover.

so the question is.... like for like condition, would you swap YOUR Pagoda for one of:
Corvette C1,
Porsche 550 Spyder,
Shelby Cobra 427,
Ferrari 250 GT Lusso,
Jaguar E-type,
Austin-Healy 3000,
Lotus Elan,
MGA,
Lamborghini Miura,
Porsche Speedster,
Morgan Plus 4,
BMW 2800/3.0 CS,
Alfa Romeo Duetto,
Saab Sonett II
As a second question... you can keep your Pagoda and have one other car off this list. Which one?
Would I swap? Yep, take the Ferrari, sell it and buy another Pagoda, keeping the change :D
What would I supplement? Tough one...probably the 550 Spyder

I've never put much stock in these lists, but it's certainly nice to see the Pagoda in such fancy company.
I saw the article yesterday and thought it was funny how it advised prospective buyers to check for "rust in the doorpockets." (???)
