Title: Inj. pump part fell off. Need one urgently ?
Post by: Ben on July 21, 2003, 01:55:54
Hello folks,
Had a quick look around the engine bay of my '64 230SL and noticed a lot of oil. Discovered that the housing on the rear of the injector pump where the spring loaded mixture screw is housed......has dissapeared ! !

It just fell off !

It was obviously loose for a while and I did a fair bit of motorway driving on the Friday before I checked. Anyway the dipstick on the pump shows the oil level half way on the stick. I jammed a plastic cap into the hole and started it. It drives and sounds perfect.

Does anyone have a scource for a new or used item.........please ?

Regards,
Ben in Ireland.

WOW

On my car it is screwed onto the inj pump.

It might be possible to buy the part from a wrecker. These pumps were common on a lot of models of the same era.

You could try with Niemoller, SLS or DB Depot in Germany. Not sure about UK or Irish parts suppliers but I am pretty sure that at least one of these vendors sell used parts so maybe also loose parts off FI pumps. Check in the suppliers database (on the home page, under databases):

Hello Ben,
I have some spares but I am in the USA. You may want to look and see what you have local first. Check Mercedes and any Bosch Authorized Distributors.

Ben:  I ahve a pump off of a 250SL where the rear large nut should be the same.  If you need it, email me off line and we can determine if it will fit.
