Title: Hazard flasher switch

I have occasionally seen for sale on Ebay a hazard flasher switch/knob supposedly for the W113 or other models of that era. It appears to be a twist knob similar to the heater blower knob fitted to the W113 and on the back of it has the prongs ready to push straight into a connector block.

Does anyone know if it was a genuine optional extra, where on the dash it would fit on the W113 and whether the wiring and connector block will already be in place for it behind the dash somewhere ?

Yes, the US-spec cars were fitted with a Hazard Switch on the dash at some point. I believe they all got a hazard switch at some point. Take a look at the attached photo. Note the red knob to the left of the steering wheel:

Hi, Ian

To add Hazard Warning to a 250 SL you would need the complete assembly which includes a heavier duty flasher unit and switch with knob, and it would have to be wired in. When you pull the knob to switch them on, the power to the normal flasher unit is cut-off.
Here's a picture of a Hella unit I added to my 280 SL. It is mounted under-dash (top RH corner)

Thanks Naj and Douglas.

One of next winter's projects is to have the dash to pieces to investigate a non-moveable heater lever and a rattle from behind the clock, so I'll probably consider a hazard flasher switch then.

I found the write up on the installation of the flasher from the MB technical book.  
It is several copies and don't want to scan them as they might be copyrighted.  I would be willing to make copies and send them to you via post.
