I doubt this was an actual option but I was thinking driver-side arm rest.

Hello Rick,

The SL has a Mercedes carbureted sedan engine in it. Notice where the distributor is located. There is no attachment place for an injection pump on this engine.

Hadn't noticed the extra arm rest.  This was the first I'd ever seen a transplanted carb engine.  I suppose it's one way to cure fuel injection problems....  For another oddity, check out the jump seat in the following:

I guess one can expect an oddity or two with a car from Verginia that has been completely redun and whose engine has just flushed.  Smart car?

Huh?  Missed the Virginia connection.  Also, please remember to use spell check when posting to the site.

Best,

Sorry, Tom, but spell check would have defeated my purpose, I was quoting directly from the ebay listing, which I found pretty funny.  I don't mind the occasional typo but I could not get over the engine with the remarkable bathroom manners:

"I bought these car 2 years ago from Verginia &  presently I'am the 4 owner.

The car has two tops & new paint original dark navy blue color with completly redun interior seats, dash, door panel trim, carpet, new soft top,new head liner for the hard top, also to mention that these car comes with rare option "jump seat".

The chromes on the car are in perfect condition, the motor has just flushed."

Interestingly enough, last year I bought a used fuel injection M130 engine ('Tauschaggregat') that had at some point been converted to run with ... carberettors! They closed off the FI aperture with a home-made steel plate and 'just' fitted the intake manifold suited to the carb setup. The previous owner told me it ran just fine.
