Title: Fuel Line Replacement

I need to replace the 2' braided section of fuel line that runs from the fuel pump, over the axle, ending at the metal line that runs forward.  PN is given to me as 113-476-0926. Any tips on this job?

Hello Craig,

It would be a good time to do some fuel system maintenance. Run the fuel nearly out, then drain the tank, check the screen in the tank, the screen in the fuel pump, change the lines while the fuel is still out use all new hose clamps.

Craig,

I just lost a tank of $3/gal fuel because some idiot had put in a short braided line that occasionally rubbed against the axle until it cracked.  This was remedied by putting in a higher loop.  Luckily our cars have no electronics that would spark a fire...

Craig: You really should take the tank off and do it right. Go down to Airport Way and look at how Smokey is cleaning the tank and associated fuel system on this 1956 220 convertible from Phil's collection. Please don't take shortcuts. Do the tank, the lines, the pump and the filter.

The tank was removed and cleaned when I owned the car. The IP pump was also rebuilt, new injectors, new fuel pump, etc.

Craig,
Check the fittings and clamps that hold the fuel lines.  I had several old cars that looked innocent enough in rust terms.
But when checking the fuel lines and so forth, I found a buildup of rust at some of the contact(where clips, brackets are in touch with lines) places and it looked almost thru rust.
