Well...If it was the million dollar question..I would state it's a late 230SL rebadged and possibly with a 280 engine!  Look at the various clues:  Square weave carpet (could have been changed); chrome trim ring around steering wheel vinyl; horn ring like late 230/early 250; door and dash knobs like early 250SL and prior; fixed versus expandable map pockets; two piece dashboard....that's just to name a few!  The VIN number appears to be Feb/March 1965 from the end of the VIN number. However, the first part doesn't jive with our database. Dare I say this could be a fraud!

The badge on the trunk appears to say 250sl.  With early hubcaps and others already discussed, plus later taillights, bumper guards and headrests I think it is confused about what it is.

Yes...after I posted the last write-up I did notice the 250SL on the back.  But the production (and VIN number ending) would stop at 5196 units, which doesn't match the serial number (if it is even real).  The poor girl is definately a confused Pagoda!

Note that the seller has "O" transactions but has been an ebay member for over four years. Curious. Also, I feel that the tires look funky partly because there are no trim rings.

Concerning the write-up, if you wanted to get $25k for an opening bid wouldnt you at least spring for a tune-up? Anyway the seller is 100% correct when they state: "one of a kind"   .
