Cees,
I'd just like to take this opportunity to say what a great job you and the other board members are doing. You have really added to the enjoyment I get out of owning a Pagoda. The only thought I've had: since becoming an owner, I've seen at least three Pagodas parked somewhere. I always try to leave a note encouraging them to contact me or this club (but the last time I put .com instead of .org). Anyway, it might be worthwhile to have business card size greeting cards with the logo and Web address available to members for just such occasions.

Chuck:
Thanks for your support of the Group...don't worry about .com or .org, don't worry about www, don't worry about lower and upper case letters since all the variations will work:
www.SL113.com and www.SL113.org and SL113.org and SL113.com even with mixed upper and lower case letters all point to this site...our "official address is either www.SL113.org or for short "SL113.org"
and we will soon have "give-away" cards available for you to hand-out...

Today marks the arrival of our 300th member, Ben Elliott of Worthington, Ohio. I'll be sending him a window decal and a copy of "Pagoda World" as his "door prize" as it were (for the 500th member, I will gladly sacrifice one of my 1:18 Techno Giodi model 280 SL's - it would be great to see this happen in 2003!).
The 40th anniversary poster is coming along nicely, just yesterday someone from Monaco promised to send in a few photos of his SL against the backdrop of the world-famous Monte Carlo Casino. He happens to be the neighbour of David Coulthard, the Scottish F1 driver for Mercedes McLaren and proud owner of a factory-restored Pagoda, with whom we include a special interview in the next "Pagoda World". Right now we have almost 35 of the 40 slots in the poster filled - I have requested Daimler-Chrysler in Stuttgart to help us identify potential participants in some of the countries where we do not already have members (for example Japan, Mexico, Norway and Luxembourg).

Joe Alexander's tech session (last June) received very prominent coverage in The SL Market Letter (July 7, 2003 Vol. II, No. 028) by John Olson. Please check here if you are interested in this authoritative newsletter on all things SL:

John's book on SL's ("The SL Experience") is a very nice reference for all Pagoda enthusiasts.

Question - does anyone have particular knowledge on video file format and compressions for email attachments?
Dick Mentzer, one of the members here, made a very impressive video compilation from images of this site and of the tech session in Ohio last June. I would like to distribute this video (on CD-rom or DVD) to our friends in the classic Mercedes world (like Daimler-Chrysler) and also post a compressed version on the site, so members can see it as well. Naturally, the smaller the filesize, while maintaining a good image quality, the better. So if anyone knows about these techniques, please send Dick (Dick Mentzer <rmentzer@pacbell.net>) or me a note.
Thanks!
