Title: Red Coil
Post by: rwaw on July 09, 2003, 13:54:29
Have just installed original Bosch red ignition coil (Bosch nr 0221 119030; MB nr 000 158 26 03) and correct ballast resistor at 1.8 kOhm.
Do the experts know if after this any further adjustments to timing/dwell etc need to be made ?
Thanks for your help.

Raoul
No changes as far as I know.
Has it made any discernable difference in your opinion?

Naj,
Have only driven for 10min today since fitting the red coil, but so far there seems to be no difference at all :( .
Must say it looks great though (!), shiny red.Still need to check the air filter on injection pump when warm........always something else to do.

Raoul,
Is it shiny red or shiny ally with red label?

The filter can be a pain to remove as the heater return hose has to come off first. I would warm up the car first and remove the hose to the csv from the inj pump and block it with a 12mm bolt. Then fit another hose to the inj pump adaptor, start the engine and see if you can suck/blow thru that hose.

Does performance difference show up if you widen the sparking gaps some after fitting the red coil??
