Title: Spark Plugs
Post by: dwilli3038 on March 19, 2006, 15:24:39
I went to Auto Zone today and asked for Bosch W9DC plugs. I did not notice intil I go home but what they gave me was WR9DC. Do I need to return them or will these work?

My understanding of this situation,is that you need to remove (unscrew) the resistor from the top of the plug.  Maybe some of the veteran mechanics can chime in this?

Yes, return those plugs.  You need all the fire you can get from the business end of the plug.  Bosch still makes a W9DC without the resistor.  The Autozones here in North Florida do not carry them and they don't show up in their computer system.  They do carry an NGK equivalent and I used them for a short time with seemingly good results.  You'll need to call around to other stores to find the Bosch plugs but they can be found, and can be bought via the internet.

I can get you all the Bosch plugs you want, 10 to a box.
The small screw on piece on the top of the spark plug is NOT a resistor, you either leave it on or take it off depending on the plug wire set you use.

"Fries with that" is right!! Since Jean needed to go right by AutoZone she said she would return them. She told the guy that I wanted W9 DC not WR 9DC. He said there is no such plug and suggested she bring a old one in and he would be glad to compare with other plugs to fing one that LOOKS the SAME!!!! She got my money back and I stoped at the local NAPA who had the W9DC s that I wanted.
