I removed the exhaust system from my 1968 280Sl and replaced it with stainless steel for show purposes. I was surprised how solid the old system is. It is welded together so hard to ship and heavy. Good chrome tips are welded to end. I am asking $300.
Would this exhaust fit my Euro model 230SL built at the end of Sept. 1966?

Rodd,
Only the down pipes will be different. You probably have the earlier three into one manifold pipes (headers??) and the down pipes are shorter (changed to later cast type @ chassis # 013865). The later cast manifolds are quite short and the down pipes are longer and come all the way up to the cast manifolds.
Making sense??

Hello Rodd,
Exhaust systems rust from the inside out. A seemingly solid used exhaust system may have a very short life. I am not trying to mess up anybody's sale, but I would save up a few more dollars and buy a new stainless also. Another concern would be if the used system was correctly fitted before welding during the original installation. You may be buying someone's squeeks and rattles.
