I came across someone in the Netherlands who does very nice artwork of classic cars. He is currently working on an airbrush painting of a Pagoda and sent me a rough drawing that already looks quite nice in my opinion:

If there is interest, I can post subsequent photos of how this work is progressing.

Very nice free hand drawing. The high bank on the test track looks very intimating I hate roller coster rides.

Awesome!
Does the artist just work on commission? Or is the work available on a more general basis?

Jonny - the artist (his name is Onno van Beek) has a few drawings on the Dutch version of Ebay ("Marktplaats", which was bought by Ebay last year) of other classic cars for sale. So he does also do work not on commission. I spoke with him last week and he mentioned that he is working on his own website. When I get more information I will post it here.
The drawing I bought (the one with the Pagoda on the test track that gave Bob the heebie-jeebies) came in the mail yesterday, and it is even nicer 'in person' than on the photo. I paid EUR 85 for it (about $100).

Hello Cees,
That is certainly not too expensive for such a nice painting.
How about if we put one of his pagoda paintings on the title (or back) page of one of the next Pagoda Worlds?
Very nice artwork, indeed.
Best,

That's a very interesting idea. Could the Group afford to commission something? Or would it be easier/cheaper to get permission to print a copy of an existing piece?

I will ask about getting permission to use the drawing that I have for Pagoda World.
Side note: I got permission from the publisher of the Haynes manual to use the cut-out drawing that is on the cover of the Manual for Pagoda World a few years ago. If you are interested I can see whether I still have the image file they sent me for that purpose.

I will see if I have it, too. I belive it was sent to me at one point a LONG time ago. I've got really good cover art for this issue, but I could use it next time.

OK Rodd, now I know why I can't find it anymore - I sent it to you way back when!
Would be nice to see it on the cover sometime, I really like that cut-out drawing (Terry Davey I believe is the artist on that one)

Nice drawing, let me add another great artist to the discussion. He is a young college student named Travis Smith who painted my car from a picture and he added the US Capitol in the background for me.
Check out his website. www.tsautoart.com

The artist has a website: www.carpaintings.nl (no affiliation). I believe that I can spot one of our active members' cars on the site (hint: look at the license plates) :|

I've seen the photo of the 107 that was the study for the painting on the site. It's a wonderful painting. I'm sure Naj's brother is delighted. :D
We do so love our cars.

My wife had Steve Anderson http://www.saillustrations.com/ do this illustration done of my 911S as a Christmas present this year. And it was, without question, my favorite Christmas gift....
