Marcus,
Could you elaborate more on your problem.  Fuel getting to the motor?  Timing correct?  Spark?  The list goes on.

Marcus,
After cranking the engine, check the spark plugs.  Are they wet?  Dont want to rule out the compression in the cylinders.  Has the head been torqued down correctly?  Or you might have excessive leakage.
Not sure on the electricals to the coil and distributor.  Can do a search on ignition wires or electrical diagram.

Ballast wire goes to the + of coil , - of coil feeds dist....
It will still work if backwards , but spark will be weakened due to coil polarity being incorrect.

Could you be more specific about the work done?  How much was resurfaced?  What's the total thickness of the head now?  Is that thickness consistent on each end and in the middle?  What other work was done - valves, valve seats, valve guides, etc...?
