Hi All,

I have long been a Pagoda enthusiast but am a neophyte when it comes to any real Pagoda knowledge.  I'm just beginning my quest for a car & would greatly appreciate any advice you may have in regards to purchasing on of these cars.

Thanks!

Mae,

You've come to the right place! Spend a little time using the search feature and see how this exact quest has unfolded for others. You'll see plenty of insight into the process and links to buyer's guides, etc.

Good luck and keep in touch on any prospects. We're an opinionated (but helpful) bunch!

Here is some basic information. Also one of the back issues of Pagoda World (our magazine) has a checklist of things to look for when evaluating a candidate:

A couple of months ago I was in your same boat... luckily I found The Pagoda SL Group! I read virtually everything here and at links they reccomend - as you, I posted a couple pleas for help and got it from several members here. Everyone was terrific and steered me in the right direction. Last Friday I found my Pagoda... I found and purchased a beautiful RED 1967 250SL!!! Flying out on Tuesday to see her and close the deal.  STAY HERE AND PAY ATTENTION - WE ALL WANT YOU TO FIND THE RIGHT CAR AND BE HAPPY!

No rust, good chrome, working and intact wipers and heater adjustments and some others... All of those I checked off nicely, and then waited for true ownership to discover the 5,ooo things that I didn't look for.

Mae,

Look at the links in this thread:

Best of luck!  You shouldn't have any trouble finding ones for sale in California to test drive.  Drive a lot of them and learn their characteristics.
