Anyone oot there know where to buy the rebuild kits for the Bosch horns for our SL's. I have a '69 but want to restore the horn. I need the gaskets... two thin membrane gaskets that are used in these horns. please advise. best --jp in pa

I did both horns mine om my 69 modell - I took them fully apart, cleaned and respayed them with a black paint. I did not bother with he "paper"gaskets, I think I ony used som tape etc when I put them back again. It is the metal plate making the sound, and mine worked OK afterwoards.

Use a silicone sealant.

The gaskets are vegetable fiber. I bought the thinnest available from McMaster-Carr. A bit too thick, but no real consequence. I had to buy way more than I needed, but it was about $10 - not a big deal.

J,
Did you use the Search tool? Here's some info that might help you. Maybe you can directly contact the people who posted on these threads.

rodd, actually I wnet about this a bit butt-backwards. I dont know why I didnt SEARCH first. I did, however, so that right after I posted and found these threads. In fact, Michael Salemi called me and walked me through the whole thing. In search of the "correct" vegetable paper, I contaced Fed-Mogal and the engineer told me to forgo the paper gasket as this was the old way, and to go with "BLACK RTV". so I went to the local auto supply house and got some made by permatex. He said this far and away was a better solution for my purpose. "Just follow the directions carefully on the packaging". hey... whadaya know... another approach to fixing these things.

Hello Vince,
do you have any left that you might be willing to sell?
If not, what is the McMaster part number? I couldn't find them.
Thanks!

Alfred - I have way more than I can ever use and didn't pay much for it. Just send me an e-mail with your address and I will mail you enough to do your horns.
For info, the McMaster-Carr number is: 9453K103
