Hi All!
I am in the process of putting in a new water pump. Take a look at the attached photo.
:?: What does the number on the block represent? Notice what appears to be a "9" between the water pump housing and the distributor...
[:0]It's a mystery???

Was the engine ever rebuilt or otherwise out of the car?

Hi Cees,
I dont have any record of my engine being out of the car and/or rebuilt. The serial number of the engine does match the data card, so it's still the original engine.

"number nine, number nine, number nine, "
Ok !!!
Remote possibility, but you may want to try this...
Tune the radio to 999, drive the car in Reverse/Backwards
and listen for any Lennon tunes ..
If so, Ebay it, It will bring a Fortune !!!! [ tune }
...anyone remember those days ?????????????????

Bob, I came over and put that #9 there just to drive you certifiably crazy since you were already removing a working air conditioner from your 113. DZ

Dennis, I thought that was you that did this!
Anyway, just thought that this would be an interesting topic... something different to chat about...

Oh yeah - - - that Beatles song was on the "white album" was it not?
Hey Bob, I would do three things before you go much further 1) wipe some typists White-Out into the degree marks on the vibration dampner 2) if you have not already done so, clear the crud out of the horse-shoe coolant bypass tube ( mine was completely plugged ) and 3) install that angled coolant hose at the base of the thermostat housing before you paste up the gasket. Also - - I believe the bolt that secures the camchain idler gear shaft has a prescribed torque value. Anxious to get it started aren't you?
Regards, Larry

Hi Larry,
Thanks for your suggestions. I ordered a new small bypass tube (with bleed screws) when I ordered the new water pump. I agree, I bet it's full of crud! I havent removed my old one yet. Want to wait for the new one to arrive first. Also agree about putting on the short hose between the thermo and thermo housing before putting on the new pump and gasket. I am sure it will be a bear to put the new one on. I will use a bit of silcon spray to hopefully make it slip on easier.
Thanks again!
Bob
