Title: trunk lid holes
Post by: TerenceD on November 16, 2005, 14:01:56
My car is a 1970 280sl 4spd.  I noticed today that there are two small holes on the right side of the trunk lid, where the automatic sign usually is placed.  Since my car is a 4 spd I am wondering if

1.  this is where there used to be a dealer insignia, or
2. if the trunk was replaced for some reason with a trunk lid from an automatic, or
3. they came from the factory with filled holes for the manual transmission cars.

Any thoughts ?
Terence

Not sure Terence. What is interesting is the holes are on the right. My Automatic badge resides on that side, but I have rarely seen others there. Most I have seen have the Automatic stacked above the SL badge.
