Title: SL - Transporter
Post by: ZwoachtzigSL on November 07, 2005, 12:41:49
Hello Friends.

Question: Can one pack 200 beer-boxes into a SL?

Answer: Yes, one can.

You don't believe me? Look here:

You may have just given Walt Klatt his next conversion project! A diesel and a wagon and a (if Walt accepts) a 113!

Wow !

That looks like a lot of hard work !

The interior I reckon reveals that the car is probably a W123 estate with some 190SL panels welded on !

Why ??

Jonny B,
Well I'm not going to go that far with the SL conversion.  But you are right I already thought about grafting a W123 or W124 estate wagon rear onto the SL, but quickly scrapped it due to the poor appearance in my sketches.  Although I had a W110 1967 200D fintail wagon and compared notes between the two for moving the wagon rear to the SL.  It would have looked better with the fins, but it would mean sacrificing a very rare wagon for the sake of my oddball thoughts.
So don't fear the conversion yet.  I sold the wagon before I could cut it up-thankfully.
The SL's in the garage are safe from that kind of hacking up.

There's a picture in one of the current classic car magazines here of a Lotus Elan, with an estate rear end

Yuk.

It's silver now.  I've seen several picures of it at recent car shows.  It's in an early Pagoda World!
