Title: what is this part? emergency brake pully kit
Post by: merrill on September 26, 2005, 11:08:38
I received a new emergency brake pully kit from K&K mfg today.
nuts, bolts and lock washers included.
There is one part I have no idea what is it for.
The part is a thin square piece of metal with a hole thru it.
One side has a triangle cut out of it, triangle pointing into the center.  the hole is large enough for all of the studs.

I may find out where this goes when I pull the old pully housing off the car, just didnt want to R/R and end up with a left over part

Any ideas?
thanks in advance
matt

Hi Matt. Is this the pulley mechanism for a 230SL? If so, I recall that piece -- I don't think my mechanic ended up using it, as we matched up what came out to what went back in... E-brake works now although I really have to crank it up high to get it to hold.

I believe y'all are talking about the lock tab for the nut on the bolt that goes thru the pulley.

Naj, you are probably right -- although I recall it was not that patently obvious to me (is that saying much?)...
