Title: Cold Start Valve - Solenoid
Post by: bpossel on September 03, 2005, 14:13:13
Hi from Memphis!

In between my Cold Start Valve and Cold Start Solenoid is a very small rubber o-ring.  This o-ring encircles the solenoid pin.

:?: Is there also supposed to be a gasket inbetween the cold start valve and the solenoid?

Thanks!
Bob

Hello,

Could someone explain me the different between a Cold Start Valve and a Cold Start Solenoid? Where can I find the CCV (how does it look like?)??

The cold start valve is on the intake , midway located. It has a single wire and a gas line going to it. It is basically a gas primer/squirter.
It aids in start and is both temp dependent and only works when the starter circuit is energized.

The cold start sol. is an actuating magnet on the rear of the FI pump and it moves the rack in the pump to a foward position to enrichen the fuel as a  starting aid . It is not temp dependent and operates any time the starter circuit is energized. This feature was eliminated at the start of pump R20 production.
Each of these two starting aids are relay controlled.
