Title: Removing radio
Post by: 66andBlue on August 22, 2005, 21:59:35
I have removed the square metal front panel in the dash together with radio but cannot remove the radio from the panel.
According to a schematic posted by JOS

the cover plate (escutcheon) should come loose from the front panel.  Somewhere in this forum I read that it needs to be pried away.  I have tried but am afraid that if I pry more I'll need a new front panel in addition  :(
Any suggestions?

Hello Alfred,
The original "TR" Becker Radios on the 230SLs weere a little different than the latter to remove.

Remove the knobs and unscrew the two small round slotted chrome bezels that are under the knobs. They unscrew, then the faceplate will come off and the radio will be unfastened.
