Title: Girling Calipers?/ Recommended Pads
Post by: miniwarmth on September 26, 2025, 15:08:46
Hi All,

Was refreshing my brake fluid yesterday and noticed my current pads are getting thin (yikes). Wish i had a set of replacements on hand but i didn't.
I have a 64 230 and in looking at the pics / comparing to BudsBenz they seem to match the Girling calipers.
But the actual pads/mount looks a bit different than the images.
See attached image of my caliper.

https://www.budsbenz.com/catalog/230-250-280-sl/k-brakes/K223-002

Is Budz my best bet here or is there something just as good and available more quickly/locally - am in the chicago area.

Thanks,
Nik

Thanks! I guess my question is that the calipers look to be girling but when look at the pads shown online, the way that are installed (the mounting holes) look a lot more like the ATE ones.
Here's an image to illustrate my confusion ( :o :

I have the 3-piston Girlings as well.  Haven't bought brake pads in forever.  Many people buy parts from Authentic Classics.

Don't worry about buying local, worry about getting a vendor who knows these cars and parts, and communicates well.

They are ATE.

More common, easier to find brake pads, and less cost to rebuild.
