Under the dash connecting all of the harness and going along good until this 6-pin plug. Unable to find where it goes. The only other 6-pin plug that I know of is for the light switch.
-
Could this be a plug for the hazard warning lights, wasn't there a sub harness with a 6 way plug for the hazard switch which spliced into the 12 way connector for the column switch? The hazard switch was either fitted in the footwell near the bonnet/hood release, or in the dash. If you search "hazard" you'll fine plenty of information
-
I also thought about the hazard switch, but the colours in the diagram do not match. However, the diagram shows wiring where hazard switch replaced blinker relay. If you still have the blinker relay and hazard light switch as well, maybe this is it?

Found another photo of that harness, it appears that plug may be actually for the Hazard switch, which then wonder where the plug currently on the hazard goes too. Here is what I have at this time, I have three female plugs two of them are twelve pin and one is the six pin that we are talking about. One of the 12 is for the trunk electrical system that I haven't connected and the other one not sure what that is for. Everything in the photos is what was taken out on strip down.

I can't quite see what the colours are in the 6 pin plug, can you let us know what they are

Dear Mr. Henderson
Yes definitely the short sub harness that has 1x male 12 pin connector, 1x female 12 pin connector and 1x female 6 pin connector is for the hazard relay system. As mentioned by my colleagues here the pin positioning for the 6 pin connector looks strange. So it must be for a very particular hazard relay. When plugging your hazard relay match cables with the corresponding number on your relay:
1. Black/white, turn signal left
2. Black/green, turn signal right
3. RED / white / blue , T30 always hot terminal
4. Black/ white/ green is the T49a flasher signal
5. Brown , ground
6. Black other stripes , must be the T15 switched 12V
Now, how to connect the hazard relay subharness.
===============================
This subharness is a kind of bypass. The 12 pin male connector should be connected to MAIN HARNESS on the 12 pin female that brings signals to the steering switch.
Then the steering switch branch (12 pin male terminal) should be connected to the other end (12 pin female) connector in the hazard sub harness
And finally the 6 pin female connector is for the hazard relay.
As you mention the MAIN harness has a total of three 12 pin female connectors:
1. On the left footwell that is to connect the REAR HARNESS. It is easy to identify since this one has a large gauge line for the fuel pump in black/red/white
2. Below the steering column are 2x 12 pin female connectors
2a. One with very thin lines that serves the instrument cluster. To identify it just note that it has four different blue lines. One blue/green, one blue/black, one solid blue, and one blue/red.
2b. One with large gauge lines that serves the steering switch.
Best regards
