Title: how do to remove cover for rear axel mount

does anyone know how to remove the cover for the rear axel mount?

There are 2 plastic pins or fasteners that hold it in place.  Gently pry the cover up and part of the fastener will fall into the support rail that the axle mount sits on.  To my knowledge, you can't retrieve the pins from the cavity, so you will need to get new pins/fasteners.  Not sure if these fasteners are readily available.

Interesting... mine is held down by metal screws. Perhaps the previous owner didn't bother using these plastic fasteners...?

If we're talking about the plastic cap in the trunk, then mine is held down by two phillips-head screws.
