Does anyone have a good used water pump housing ? I have some damaged threads where the little bypass pip bolts on with the hollow banjo bolt. New ones seem very expensive !
I tried a repair with some liquid metal but the threads are too bad and I’m not happy with it. Anyone have something from a parts car maybe ?
Also the power steering pump lower pulley bolt……………..I’m missing one and none of the catalogues or on-line shops show what I need !

Hello Ben,
Another option is to install steel thread inserts. All sizes and metric are avaiable. You can by a kit with the correct drill bit, inserts and tap.

Okay just thought I'd wrap this one up !
I managed to get the helicoil fitted, then a bolt sheared in the thermostat housing. I had to drill and retap that, which was succesful, the thermostat was incorrect and opening too early so I fitted a new one.
It's back together again and I drove it for the first time in 5 weeks !
It felt great and ran better than ever. I think the coolant being to slow meant that sometimes the WRD opened up again !
Anyway I also replaced the sleeves in the clutch master cylinder and fitted the overhauled power steering pump and resvoir that I have been looking at for over a year. It may be a while before I finish that job but I wanted to ensure I had all the relevant fittings !
Still need a photo of a stripped clutch slave cylinder, or in fact i would buy a used one if anyone had one, then just fit new seals to it !!
Good to be back driving again............and the good news is I got the green light to build my new garage for next year !! [:p]

Hi Bob, I used the 83deg one !
The car runs great now and I have nice hot air which I never had before.........great for this time of year as its getting chilly here but still sunny enough for top down !!

All the earlier discussions on the Yahoo site recommended 79C thermostats but when I asked MB their recommended temp range was 87C. I think it is to do with the sub tropical climate here.
I decided to go with the 79C unit. The original thermo in the car was a 79C, so I made the right choice.

Oh maybe it IS 87 deg !!
Its definitely eighty something, I dont recall now, maybe the paperwork will tell me for definite!
Thing is here in Ireland it never gets near the outside temperature that you guys get to so I felt the coolant never gets warm enough !
It always read cold before, just under the 180 square block on the gauge !
