Title: 4SP Manual Gearbox Shims/Distance Rings

Hello All,

I'm trying to locate some Shims/Distance Rings for a 4SP Manual Gearbox. Specifically the ones for the Mainshaft.

Part numbers are:-

A1362620852 Shim 0.3mm thick
A1362620752 Shim 0.2mm thick
A1362620652 Shim 0.1mm thick

I need to fill a gap of around 0.9mm to get the input shaft end float to 0.05mm

I can get 0.2mm Shims from Niemoller at around 5 euro each, but then 29 euro to get them to Australia it starts to add up.

If anyone has any it would be greatly appreciated if you could send them to me? Happy to pay for shipping and what you think they are worth, ideally in Australia or NZ.

I have tried to find them in Australia and it appears shims from a Mazda B2200 are the correct diameter, but they don't go down thin enough.

They seem to be made of Unobtanium, but I thought there is no harm in asking

When I rebuild a gear box I reinstall all of the shims in the same places that I removed them. I don't add or subtract anything.

I once tied to get the end play down next to nothing and the shifter would pop out of gear during deceleration and it wouldn't down shift very well either. After we studied this, the answer was not enough end play on the input shaft.

I only had one 0.5mm shim on the input shaft, nothing on the countershaft at the front.

I’ve read the spec is 0.05 so next to nothing and I’ve also read people’s comments on here saying it will jump out of gear with too much end float.

I have near on 1mm of end float so hence why I’m asking about shims as I think that’s too much.

Now I’m confused, is too much or not enough the issue?

Or is a metric/imperial issue?

I'm seeing 0.05mm and its actually 0.05in equating to 1.2mm roughly?
