Title: Front brake hoses
Post by: Ozone on May 14, 2025, 15:03:02
Hi everyone! Long time listener, first time caller.

Putting an early euro 230SL  back on the road after a 40 year barn nap.
While servicing the front brakes and waiting for the parts to arrive, I looked around the shop to see if I had anything on hand.
Turns out the Porsche 944 front brake hoses are nearly identical in every aspect, except longer by ~15mm.
This may be useless info, or maybe it will help someone in a pinch.
Side note, the 944 lines have a protective coil around the lines, I robbed those and put them on my new ones.

Looks  like they may not fit into the bracket in the fender well, on the female end?

Hi,
According to the ATE classic catalogue, the original front brake hoses on all W113s are 420mm long, as can be seen from the spare part number: 83.7704-0421.3 330827 (~17€).
Those of the Porsche 944 (except Turbo) are 410mm (early model) 83.6101-0412.3 330212 (~25€) and
415mm (latest model) 24.5165-0415.3 331320 (~55€).
The prices for the Porsche parts are 50% and 200% higher here. The MB brake hoses were used in many MB models those for Porsche only in a few.
