Title: Fuel Vapor Outlet
Post by: jeblack123 on May 05, 2025, 17:07:55
Good afternoon.

As I have been trying to eliminate the fuel smell in my trunk, I have replaced the 3 rubber tubes coming from the vapor tank and ordered the "funnel shaped thingy" that protrudes from the underside of the car between the fuel tank and the exhaust. I cannot locate the 6mm metal tube that is described that the funnel shaped thingy should attach to. Does anyone have a picture of this tube or even a rough description of the length and shape so that I may fabricate a replacement?

Thanks, in advance for any help.

Sincerely,

James (Eddie) Black

This is what I could find from my restauration project 280SL April 1969.
Diameter 6mm, length I estimate between 60 and 70 cm.

Did you check the fuel sending unit seal?
two small hoses from the fuel tank filler neck?
No mention of those.

Thank you all for the replies and advice. I located the vent tubing; it was bent more towards the fuel tank. I will check the fuel sending seals next.
