My clutch and everything else is original. I want to do some preventative maintenance when I have the car away for the 5-speed transmission swap (finally). I have read all the posts I could find on replacing the clutch in earlier cars, but since certain parts are NLA, I am confused as to what supersedes those parts and can be used without issue in my car. From what I understand, I need:
- pilot bearing
- pilot bearing cover
- throw out bearing and bushing for the 230SL
- clutch disc
- ... and the pressure plate from a 280SL should work, right?
-
It appears that the clutch release (throw out) bearing from the 230/250 does not work with the pressure plate, though I have to get by the mechanic later today to see what's up.
Can anyone opine on this, or does anyone happen to have a 280 bearing they'd like to trade for my unused 230/250 bearing? Or sell me?

Just stopped by mechanic -- I think I might need the Getrag bearing instead.

If a moderator could kindly move this into R&D... I should've specified in the title that this is for the Getrag-swap, not for the stock transmission.
I have not found any information about this anywhere. The 230/250 clutch release bearing holder doesn't fit onto the Getrag input shaft.
It appears the inside measurement of the Mercedes clutch release bearing is 34mm. One from a BMW E28 has an inside diameter of 44mm. I will get back to the mechanic tomorrow to measure the input shaft.
Can anyone who has done this swap please help me?
