I am in the process of repairing my heater core and discovered that the linkage is missing from the heater core valve to the flap. I am going to purchase one from vintageeuroparts.com but they have multiple sizes. Does anyone know how long it's supposed to be? I realize they can be adjusted.
Here are the sizes they have in stock:
1. 6" long
2. 9.5" long

This is what my linkage at the heater valve measured.

Thank you for this. I don't think the one Vintageeuroparts.com is correct as it looks different.
Does anyone know where I can purchase a linkage for the heater flap like the one in the picture? Is there a part number I can search for?

Could you just buy one of the ones from VEP (assuming they're not crazy expensive), then cut down a piece of the correct threaded rod to the length Dirk shows?

I cannot find part number, I suppose it may be part of heat exchanger - it looks like it is just not there. If the ball joints are the same as in linkage, they are available. Rods are available too, question of cutting and threading them.

I just went through this, and I ended up buying the throttle linkage ball ends from Authentic Classics. I bought two right hand threaded ends, then I bought some 5mm all-thread and cut it to size.

Thanks David...I found some on their website that is around $30. Still not cheap but should work once I cut it to the correct size.

This is also a good idea...thank you for the suggestion.

Throttle linkage ball ends at Mercedes are $7-8 item, please check A 000 993 04 61 at a dealer or classic center. They are available here in Europe, chances are they are also available in the US.
At SLS they are EUR 2.80, but then you would have duties and shipping.

PIERCE MANIFOLDS located California (https://www.piercemanifolds.com) is a good source for fuel and heater system rods and ball connectors. Good service as well.
