Title: Is safe to use scissor lift type ?
Post by: mauro12 on April 12, 2025, 10:30:44
Hello guys , I know this topic has been discussed in the past but i want to be 100%sure .
Since im going to replace tires and all tire shops here uses scissor lift type , my question is , how safe is to lift our car in that way ? Our car doesn’t have structural lift points in the frame rail like modern cars . I don’t want to risk and damage something . The lift points are very internal and not external like modern cars  as I said .
What do you suggest ? Thank you

Just make sure they use rubber blocks and locate them on the lifting points.

If I was placing my car on a scissor lift, I’d place one block on the “rails” at the front and one under the rear trailing arm pick up points on the body.

I use a hydraulic driven scissor lift for several years now and i'm very satisfied.
Just make sure you buy one with good quality and with safety items as mechanical blocking or one with check valves together with an extra safety valve.
Also use rubber blocks underneath the chassis to lift the car.

Thank you for you help . Yes is quite clear where our car can be lifted . My personal thought is that with a scissor lift type , if you place a rubber block in the front you have to put under the structural frame rail , which is located almost in the middle of the car . Since the platforms of the lift cannot be moved laterally, perhaps they don’t match with the rails of the car . That’s my understanding.

Hello All,

I've had one of these AutoStacker scissor lifts for several years now and believe it as the best on the market.

The welded sub-assemblies are (of course) Chinese origin, but the design, the electronics and the quality control comes out of Los Angeles and are first rate.

Hello guys , as you can see from the picture , today i replaced my 20 years old tires with the new one. Regarding the lifting points on the front , they have putted 2 big rubber blocks just under the factory  jacking hole and it seems to be ok . The lifting was very solid with no issues . Obviously is better to use rubber blocks rather than wood .

Have you ever seen how is structured the front jacking hole of the car ? The hole where the jack is supposed to be inserted to lift the car .
I suppose the whole part under the jacking hole , should be strong enough to support the car . In my case with a big rubber pad .
