After winter storage my 230 sl is not running as it should. It sounds like it's not running on all six cylinders - but it is. The spark plug cables, condenser, distributor cap, condensator and rotor have now been replaced. The cold start valve has been removed and tested to ensure it clicks as it should when directly powered. It sounds a bit like it’s running with the choke on, but it’s not producing black smoke as it would if the mixture were too rich. It had the same issue after the last winter storage, but it resolved itself after a few kilometers. There’s new V-power in the tank. The return hose to the tank has been blown through. Any suggestions?

What happened to me once after a storage period is that the WRD (Warm Running Device) got stuck in its little tower. Took that off, freed/cleaned it, and all was well again. So I suggest you check to make sure it functions properly.

OK - I checked it and both hoses get warm - or am I incorrect regarding this? The problem is when cold AND warm...

You can do the split linkage test to see if you are running lean or rich.
That would be my first step...

You didn't mention spark plugs. What is their condition? Are they non-resistor type?
It could also be an injector or one of the nozzles on the fuel injection pump.
Cheers,

Did you try pulling off the spark plug wires one at a time to see how each cylinder is effected?
