I have a 1965 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda with a non-original engine block number 130.980-12-047632.  I believe it’s from a late 60’s/early 70’s 280SE (W108, W111) which had a 2.8L inline 6 cyl.  I am looking for the following:

•   1 ea. Piston Ring Set (3 rings for each piston)

The only part number I found for this engine is
A 001 030 04 24 PISTON RING PARTS KIT

As of engine 980 12 061152

So for later engine.

Yours would be A 000 030 90 24,  As of engine 980 12 042380, which is NLA.

You would have to check somehow if they fit.

These are part sets, 4 rings each, actually.

If this engine was fitted into a 230SL, one would have to wonder if it had a rebore and has oversized pistons. I would check piston diameter carefully.

Original Mercedes Piston Rings are very pricey. The rings are very hard and usually not worn out before the bore in the block becomes worn out of spec. Putting new "round" rings in "oval" worn cylinders can often cause excessive oil usage. Be careful that everything is measured and within specs. Some re-builders opt to use another brand, softer ring, which can break into a worn cylinder easier. (Deves). For best results re-bore the cylinders with oversize pistons.
