couple days ago I discovered something that worries me. the right front spring loop is cracked. would like to find out from the group:
1) is this a common finding
2) is this part available
3) is it hard to change this out myself ?? and should I now replace both sides together ??
Thanks for any and all input in this troubling finding

I can't answer all your questions. I would do both sides, and new bushings while replacing springs.

A quick call to the Classic Center will let you know about availability and pricing.

You have to figure out what length you need, 243 or 248mm. The longer ones are available at Mercedes, the other ones you need to look for at ebay.
Some clues here: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=38966.0
I only have length and part numbers for cars with power steering at hand...

I have power steering so those may be correct part numbers. thanks to both of you, the research to find a part starts. looks like I will need to replace both side bushes for things to be consistent side to side. if used parts then only one spring should be needed.
I will read the link to evaluate how to change them out, doesn't look to difficult

Always buy rubber from Mercedes except when price is really excessive.
I sourced my springs from the link I provided in the thread I directed you to.
I am not an expert, but I would replace both.
I replaced them myself, just pay attention to bushings orientation. Be careful not to change alignment as this is the place where you adjust caster.

noted and will do, thanks pawel for everything
